"EPILYSIS" CENTRE FOR ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”) has now entered Greek civil law. Following the enactment of Law No. 2479/1997, since 16th September 2000, private disputes within the jurisdiction of a Multi-member Court of First Instance with a value of more than 8 million drachmas, or Euros 23,5477 must attempt a pre-trial settlement. As from 1st November 2000, the threshold was increased to 15 million drachmas, or Euros 44,020-. Settlement may be assisted by a third party acting as mediator. ADR is a response to the problems and harmful consequences of going to court. Although ADR is new to Greece, it has a long and proven track record in the US, the UK and other European Union states. ADR is extensively used by the biggest corporate institutions, often with remarkable results. "EPILYSIS" can help you maximise the potential of ADR, whether it is compulsory or voluntary. It can also arrange bi-lingual (Greek-English) mediations. What does ADR Give You ?
